Continuing Events at the San Francisco Bay Area Curling Club

The San Francisco Bay Area Curling Club has many events throughout the year. Below is a list of current and upcoming events at our various locations.

San Jose - Sharks Ice at San Jose, 1500 S 10th Street, San Jose, 95112 (downtown, near Spartan Stadium)
Fremont - Sharks Ice at Fremont, 44388 Old Warm Springs Blvd, Fremont, 94538 (near Nummi and Fry's)
Oakland - Oakland Ice Center, 519 18th Street, Oakland, 94612 (in the "uptown" part of downtown 1/2 block from the 19th Street BART station)

Learn-to-Curl Clinics

Try curling for the first time or refresh your skills at a curling clinic. The clinics last approximately two hours and cover the basics of the curling delivery and sweeping. We'll also play coached games as space and time permit. Cost is $15 per person.

Lesson Series

This is the best way to get good fast! We'll be hosting many lesson series of varying length. We will group students by experience level, if possible. All lessons are at the introductory level (no experience necessary) unless otherwise indicated. All ages are welcome!

Leagues

Leagues are the heart and soul of club life. You can sign up as a team or an individual. Don't worry if you're just a beginner - these are instructional leagues and our drawmaster will match you with a more experienced player who will coach you as you go.

San Jose
- San Jose Summer League - Tuesdays, 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., 10 weeks from June 29 to August 31 September 7. $250. Extended to September 7 due to July 6 cancellation.
- San Jose Fall League - Tuesdays, 9:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., 12 weeks from September 21, 2010, to December 7, 2010. Cost is $250. Register

Fremont
- Fremont Summer League - Thursdays, 7:45 p.m. to 9:45 p.m., 9 10 weeks from July 1 to September 2 but excluding July 8. $225. ($250?) Sharks Ice tells us that curling is on July 8 as normal.

Oakland
- Oakland League: 11 weeks starting in late September, email kevinryan@bayareacurling.com with your interest. Formal registration will begin when we confirm there is enough interest to support this league.

Instructor Clinics

SFBACC periodically offers training courses to assist curlers in being able to teach future curlers. The level 1 instructor course is aimed at instructing people to be able to teach new curlers the basics of the sport. (After a level 1 course, you should be comfortable with teaching a small group at a learn-to-curl clinic.)
