More volunteers needed for corporate eventsThe holiday season brings corporate holiday parties and many like to try curling. These events CAN NOT happen without our support and if we can support them will earn the club near $2,000! Past events we have supported along with open houses have allowed us to purchase both freezers and improved stones for our curling pleasure, so your efforts are not wasted. Please juggle your work schedule and try and find a few hours so that you can come help instruct at one of these events. You don't have to be a seasoned pro to help either. Important Playdown InformationThe SFBACC has club-specific playdown dates and policies. Because MoPac and California are growing and we're using new playdown processes this year, please pay close attention to the club website and stay in contact with the SFBACC Competitive Curling Director, Michael Lively (mlively@bayareacurling.com), for any changes and updates. Club Nationals (men's and women's) The showdown is on!!Thursday, September 15th @ Sharks Ice Fremont @ 7:45pm Top teams from Fremont, Oakland, and San Jose will come together for one night of curling, beer, and cupcakes. Come join us at Stanley's and be part of the fun. Want to spare? There will be some spots available--email tc@bayareacurling.com. Competitive Curling ClinicThe SFBACC is offering a competitive curling clinic on three nights in late September. Canadian high performance coach, Yadranka Thompson, will be leading the sessions. Her partner, Greg McAulay, the 2000 World Champion skip will also be there for the Oakland Wednesday and Friday sessions. Both Yadranka and Greg are expert technicians and see sports psychology as one of the key components to success at the highest level. They also helped coach local curler Gabrielle Coleman to a tied-for-fifth finish at Women's Nationals in 2011. |
