For all who are interested in competitive curling:
Greg Wollenman has been appointed as the new treasurer for the San Francisco Bay Area Curling Club. Welcome aboard, Greg, and we thank you for your efforts in making the club finances run smoothly.
The SFBACC will be hosting a learn-to-curl clinic at San Jose on January 4, 2011 at 9:15 p.m. Cost is $15 per person or $12.50 per person for groups of four or more.
If you are interested in volunteering to help teach the clinic, please email Richard L. at email@example.com. All help is welcomed -- no experience required!
Looking for a curling fix at home? Check out our new schedule of upcoming curling event television and internet broadcasts. A big thanks goes to Michael Lively for putting this together.
Clarification on upcoming board meetings:
Golden Gate Bonspiel planning meetings are scheduled for the first Thursday of every month at Fremont, but November's meeting will be conducted over email instead. There will be no meeting at Sharks Ice. Volunteers are still encouraged to contact Michele Young at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The club board meeting in November will be a quarterly meeting and therefore in person. Quarterly meetings will be conducted in person rotating between the three facilities. Non-quarterly meetings will be conducted via teleconference unless otherwise specified.
Normally board meetings are on the second Thursday of the month, but since November's meeting will be in Oakland, it will instead be on Wednesday November 10, 2010, immediately following league.
Our club has just been notified by Sharks Ice that we no longer have curling on what was to be the last week of the fall league in San Jose.
Instead of curling on Tuesday December 7, 2010, our last week will now be Tuesday December 14, 2010.
Please communicate your concerns to the drawmaster, and we'll see what recourse we have. We apologize for the change.
At 8 PM next Tuesday, October 26, there will be a planning meeting for a curling event at the outdoor ice rink Winter Lodge in Palo Alto, January 8, 2011. This will be a Learn-to-Curl with one or more sheets for a mini-spiel if there is enough interest from club members.
At the meeting we will do the initial planning and find out what areas people might be able to help with. There are many things to do so no contribution is too small. If you can’t attend the meeting but want to get involved just email Alice Mansell at email@example.com and she will help you get involved.
Board meeting minutes are now available online to SFBACC members. Board Meeting Minutes (members must be logged in to view).
A team composed of members of the San Francisco Bay Area Curling Club and Seattle's Granite Curling Club participated in the Pacific International Cup in Richmond, BC in April 2010. They received funding via the Women's Curling Development Fund which is administrated by the United States Women's Curling Association (USWCA).
