The Fort Wayne Summerspiel is the largest Summerspiel in the U.S. and Canada with 12 sheets of curling, 60 teams and 3 divisions (5 & Under, Open and Elite).

The Elite event is a Cashspiel with a purse between $8,000 and $10,000. Last year’s Cashspiel included 3 athletes from the 2010 U.S. Men’s and Women’s Olympic Curling teams and a number of teams from the USCA high-performance program. The Cashspiel is the first event of the year on both the Great Lakes Curling Tour and the Ontario Curling Tour.

This event provides every curler the opportunity to see high quality curling competition up close and mingle with some of the top players in the game while still competing against competitors of similar abilities.

Our spiel is also unique because it is held in an arena but boasts high quality ice and stones courtesy of Darrin Sinclair, who has made the ice for the Ontario Provincials, and Canada Curling Stone, who provides the stones for the Ontario provincials. Our facility boasts a full restaurant and bar overlooking all 12 sheets and a hotel right across the parking lot.

Debbie McCormick will be competing in the spiel and will have her Goldline Mobile Curling Shop at the event, so be sure to bring some extra spending cash to stock up on the latest curling gear for the upcoming season.

The event has a 4 game guarantee and provides lunch and dinner on Friday and Saturday night.

There are still a small number of spots remaining in each of the divisions and we would love to have participation from your club. Clubs already represented include: Bay Area, Mayfield, Circle City, Fort Wayne, Long Island, Cape Cod, Anthracite, Columbus, Kalamazoo, Broomstones, Potomac, , Annandale (ON), St. Paul, Granite, Pardeeville, Oakville (ON), Bowling Green, Deer Trail (ON), Weston (ON), Midland, Detroit, Sudbury, Villanova, San Diego, Nashua, Bemidji, Plainfield, Chicago, Utica, and Madison.

Please share this information with your club members and I can be contacted with any questions. The registration form is attached for your convenience (NOTE: If interested, let me know and I'll get you the form).

Thanks for supporting our spiel by passing this information on to your members.
