Big Summer Showdown!

In the very last days of our season, you’re invited to throw down in our Big Summer Showdown. This club-wide social competition will take place over several draws on 4 different days--you can choose to play in one, two, three, or all draws! 

Everyone will be divided into two big club-wide teams: The Sunshine Sweepers vs Kurl the Fog. You’ll play in games to earn points for your club team. Who will rule our Bay Area summer? That’s up to you!

Draw times:

• Saturday 6/20 12:00 to 4PM (mini-spiel format) PLUS Volunteer Awards 
• Sunday 6/21 1:00 to 3:00PM Junior session with Hot Shots
• Wednesday 6/24 10:00AM to 12:00PM Sturling Curling with Hot Shots
• Wednesday 6/24 7:15 to 9:15PM with Hot Shots
• Thursday 6/25 7:15 to 9:15PM PLUS "wreck the ice" social after the draw

How it works:

•  Link to the Rules of the Tournament
• Players have the option to compete in 1 to 5 draws (you'll purchase your specific choices during registration)
• We'll divide players into two big club teams: The Sunshine Sweepers vs. Kurl the Fog. Teammates will play games to earn points for their club team. 
• We'll be kicking off the Showdown with a mini-spiel format! Teams of three play 2-end games in this fun, fast-paced tournament. Stick around after the games for our volunteer awards ceremony. 
• For the rest of the draws, we will aim to play different formats (including doubles, traditional fours, Sturling, and skins). If you are not sure how to play a format, the rules will be explained before the draw, so don't be shy to try something new! Indicate your interest during registration.
• Each day we'll also run a Hot Shot sheet after the draw. These are individual skills competitions, like draw to the button, hit and roll, and more (see score sheet here). Any player registered for at least one draw of the Showdown can take part. The top 8 scores will be counted towards the club team, though each team must have the scores of one junior and one 2-and-under curler included in their count. (It’ll make sense when we do it!)
• You’ll play with new teammates, enjoy some spirited fun on the ice, and if your team is lucky, win the battle for the summer.
• After the final draw on Thursday 6/25, we will "mess up the ice" and prepare for the big melt! 

New this year: 

• We're introducing fun shennanigan options. Play your cards right! 
• This year we will utilize captains to rally the team and assign teams. Indicate your interest in the signup if you would like to be a team captain! 

Cost: $40 for the mini-spiel and $25 per draw Sunday-Thursday! All experience levels are welcome!

• Up to 30 volunteers who have reached the Silver tier or higher can play in a draw (including the mini-spiel) for FREE (coupon info will be sent)
• Pick-up game vouchers earned through volunteer awards or puchased through packages can be used for registrations!
• Note: Juniors currently registered for Sunday Juniors league will be automatically registered for the game (no additional charge)
