Junior Curling

Where young curlers can grow on the ice

Meet our Junior Curling Program

We’re proud to have launched the first Junior curling program in California, offering a range of curling instruction for junior curlers from elementary school age up to age 20 (per USCA guidelines).

All levels of experience are welcome. Whether you want to throw your first stone, play recreationally, or be challenged to compete at your highest level, you are invited to join the SFBACC Junior Curling Program.

Our coaches are here to support and encourage you with inspiration and instruction to develop the necessary skills needed to become a confident curler and have lots of fun on the ice.

If you have any questions about our Junior Curling Program, please contact us.

Program Levels

We offer a series of age-appropriate instruction levels, designed to help juniors safely learn to curl and develop their skills in a fun, safe, and supportive environment. Juniors in each program receive a pin that shows what program they have gone through.

Please Note: We ask that parents remain at the curling center while their kids are participating.

Little Rockers

Grades 1-5 | No curling experience necessary
4-5 students per instructor

Little Rockers offers an introduction to curling focused on fun and safety. Our youngest curlers will learn using our lighter-weight junior set of curling stones and shorter sheets for learning and game play.

Sessions build on previous skills, introducing one new element or rule of the game at a time. Students will be grouped based on a combination of age and ability and will be taught the delivery using a stabilizer, not the broom, to increase safety and learning progress.

Junior Training Levels 1 & 2

Grades 6-12 | From first-time curlers on up
5-6 students per instructor

Junior Training Levels 1 & 2 are designed for curlers in grades 6-12 with a range of curling experience and goals, from beginner on up. (Students below grade 6 may move up to these groups based on skill assessment.)

Instructors will teach drills, strategy, and guide game play. Students will be grouped based on a combination of age and ability and will be taught the delivery using a stabilizer, not the broom, to increase safety and learning progress.

Junior Competitive Training

Grades 6-12 | Experienced curlers

This program is for juniors interested in becoming national-level competitive curlers with the aim of forming competitive teams. Coaches will work with curlers to set goals and prepare for the U18 National Championships and eventually Junior Nationals (under 20).

Juniors can move to Competitive Training through discussion with our coaches or by playing in at least one semi-competitive or competitive league (in addition to Juniors League).
