Group Practice for Beginners: Delivery and Line

These guided practices are designed for curlers who have completed at least some level of introductory instruction and want to continue their curling journey but are unsure about where to go next, as well as curlers in their first or second league who want to reinforce basic skills and team concepts.

Delivery and Line group practice includes:

• Review delivery of technique, position and release 
• Review hand signals and broom placement
• Practice delivery with primary focus on hitting line, using gates and cones
• Coach will observe participants’ technique and provide individualized feedback
• After one hour of group practice time, coach will lead group through scrimmage consisting of throwing stones, sweeping, and calling shots in a simulated real word situation 

Practices are led by intermediate-level instructors with the skills necessary to succeed in early leagues, but whose memories of being a new curler are fresh in mind. 

The practice will start with a refresher on this week’s topic followed by drills and a scrimmage consisting of throwing stones, sweeping, and calling shots in real game situations. All practice is on-ice; there is no classroom time.
